Plastic Surgery is one of the clearest forms of patriarchy. Here is why.

Dr.Miami charges $9,945 to $12,500 for a Brazilian butt lift, also known as a BBL. Regardless of where it is done, the procedure takes up to four hours, with the recovery time being six months. A woman lays down on an operating table and the doctor (81% of the time a male) takes fat from other parts of the body using liposuction and injects it into the butt while enforcing the thought that she is doing it for herself.
Plastic surgery is not an inner calling that is telling a woman to do it so that they can feel better about themselves. It is the idea that women all have to fit into certain expectations that society says they should. If it were an inner calling don't you think more people would be trying to look different from each other, not the same? Don't you think men would be doing it too?
Women might not be going into procedures such as botox and body altering surgeries thinking about a certain man or men in general. But women engage in these practices because society has shown them that they are only valued on the basis of their beauty. This is why these practices feel affirming and almost a way of self care —because that is what a good beautiful woman of society does.
This is shown in other ways too. Things that are more comfortable for women are "less sexy" and less appealing to the public eye. Some examples of this are full coverage underwear (granny panties) or baggy clothes.
Beauty is not pain but succumbing to societal standards is. Plastic surgery is based on a hatred of women and a hatred of women's bodies and the only way that women can ignore that fact is to sit down on the operating table and say we are doing it for ourselves.
It is also deeply rooted in pedophilia but thats a topic for another post.
